How to prepare for urological examination

How to prepare for a urological examination

  • initial urological examination does not require any special preparation. Just come with a fuller bladder (not necessarily full)

  • before the so-called uroflowmetry it is advisable to urinate 2 hours beforehand and then drink at least 500-750 ml of fluids well in advance of the examination. In some cases, the client has to adjust the time himself according to his/her difficulties.

  • before the scheduled examination, you will be informed by the doctor how to prepare.

Prostate biopsy

  • This is an outpatient examination under local anesthesia, which will significantly reduce the pain of the operation

  • We take tissue directly from the prostate, which is then sent for histological examination

  • Prostate fusion biopsy - a highly specialized examination that significantly increases the accuracy and targeting of suspicious sites in the prostate compared to a conventional biopsy. This examination is preceded by magnetic resonance imaging and its images are fused with an ultrasound image during the biopsy itself (see video below)

Biopsie prostaty

Flexible cystoscopy

  • It is an endoscopic examination of the urethra and bladder

  • We perform the examination with a flexible device that adapts to the shape of the urethra. The examination is a bit uncomfortable, but it is not painful if it is performed gently.

Flexible cystoscopy

Urodynamics

  • Functional examination of the lower urinary tract including bladder and urethra

  • Bladder pressures, urine flow, etc. are measured.

Metabolic evaluation

  • It is an assessment of the metabolic state with regard to the risk of urinary stone recurrence

  • The examination consists of blood collection and 24-hour urine collection, where 24 hour excretions of stone-forming substances and protective substances are determined.

  • Based on the results, we recommend an appropriate adjustment of the diet and, if necessary, drug treatment that reduces the risk of stone formation.
